Perhaps you're like me. I write plays --- one act, two acts, three acts. I've thought about writing a four-acter but my pen ran out of ink. Anyway, I write these plays, admire my ability to actually create something, and then place them in a box that sits in my basement. Cheap form of therapy. Perhaps there are others like you out there with similar patterns of illogical behavior. So, then why not join me? No criticism, no pressure, no worrying about how the reviews will read in the morning newspapers. Whad'dya say? Eh....???

The SWG has been around for over twenty years, but is just now catching up with this "Meetup" technology.(LOL!) The group used to be huge, but over the years, it has dwindled down mostly because writers have moved away. Nonetheless, the group, though small at the moment, will soon start to grow and flourish as it once was. This is truly a place for novice, intermediate, and seasoned writers who would like to share their work in a friendly environment where harsh criticism is reprimanded. We hold events on last Saturday at 2 PM in Hudson Park Library, NY 10014 and telecast to all 5 boros of NYC and Newark, NJ every Tuesdays and Wednesdays respectively.  We celebrate birthday of a famous poet, discuss a pattern and invite featured poets. Plainfield Writers Group is a group that meets the first Sunday of the month at the organizer's home in Plainfield. We are a friendly group of mature writers whom support and enrich one another. We submit a work in progress/story for critique every two weeks, then discuss our work at the monthly meeting. We can be contacted via meetup.com or VIS.

The purpose of the group is for Ashburn writers to be able to gather and receive constructive criticism of their writing. I would prefer any new members to be mature adults; this is not to dissuade teens from writing, but rather to encourage them to form or join writing groups aimed at their demographic. I want this group to feel free to write and discuss possibly mature themes and writing genres, and it would not be appropriate to expose underage writers to these unnecessarily, not would it be desirable to limit the expression of mature adults.
